Master & PhD Scholarships at Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology

Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Science (hereinafter referred to as “SIAT”), offers 8 Master`s Degree programs and 2 PhD Degree programs to international students. The duration of a Master program is 2-3 years, and a PhD program 3-6 years. A degree certificate and a graduation certificate will be awarded to those who have completed the prescribed courses and passed thesis/dissertation defense. All the programs are offered in English.

• have obtained a bachelor`s degree from a recognized institution, or an equivalent qualification; and
• satisfy SIAT`s requirements on physical fitness for pursuing the postgraduate program.

Applicants to PhD degree programs should:

• normally have obtained a master`s degree from a recognized institution, and
• satisfy SIAT`s requirements on physical fitness for pursuing the postgraduate program.

Language Requirements:
Students enrolled at SIAT can choose to take all courses and conduct research activities in English only, or in Chinese (Mandarin). Knowledge of the Chinese language is not required. Applications with TOEFL or IELTS records (within two years from the examination date) are preferred.

Application Documents:

1. The completed application form for Admission of International Students. The photo adhered on the application form must be identical with that on the passport.
2. Personal statement. Applicants to PhD programs should also submit a research proposal.
3. A certified or notarized copy of the degree certificate, a certified or notarized copy of the academic transcript, and an officially sealed original copy of the academic transcript. Notarized translations to English or to Chinese of the degree certificate and the academic transcript are also required, if they are in a language other than English and Chinese.
4. Two recommendation letters from academics at the level of associate professor or above. The letter must indicate the referee`s phone number and email address.
5. Copy of the page with personal information in the passport.

London Metropolitan University Vice Chancellor`s PhD Scholarship Scheme 2011/12

Overview

We are pleased to announce that London Metropolitan University is offering a number of Postgraduate Research VC Scholarships (MPhil/PhD). Scholarships are based within one of the University`s Academic Faculties.

For 2011/12, the following VC Scholarships will be offered:

6 x Fees-only Scholarships: covering fees for successful applicants for up to three years full-time or six years part-time – for which home/EU and overseas/non-EU* applicants are eligible subject to UKBA restrictions.

* Overseas/non EU applicants who wish to study part-time can only do so via distance learning

3 x Stipendiary Scholarships: covering fees plus an annual stipend/living allowance for successful applicants for up to three years full-time or six years part-time – for which only home/EU applicants are eligible.

Note: All Scholarships are only available for students who are not currently registered for a postgraduate research degree. All Scholarships are subject to regular review through the assessment of successful progression by the relevant Research Student Progress Group (RSPG).

University of Canterbury - Postgraduate Scholarship in Structural Chemistry

General Information 

He convenes a three-year fellowship in structural chemistry doctoral work under the supervision of Dr. Sarah Masters. The position is available to start January 1, 2012 or as soon as possible. The group employs the technique of gas electron diffraction (GED) to study the molecular structure in the gas phase with the current focus in the new area of ​​determining the structure of short-lived species. The GED device has been modified for use as appropriate, systems of very high inlet temperature to generate transient species in the area. This project will continue the development of new methods for the generation of species, focusing on the methods of photolysis.

Eligibility 

Applicants must have (or be about to receive) an honors degree (at least 2.1 or its equivalent) in Chemistry or Physics. Experience in the photolysis methods desired, along with the use of computational techniques for the determination of the structure. A strong interest in the development of new experimental methods is essential. 

Amount: $ 25,000 per year
